As a former \u00a0Khat seller who transfigured into an agriculture, Safiya told us that her khat selling days were rough with minimal profit, but it was worsened \u00a0by the death of her husband while her children were still young. Due to her childhood exposure to agriculture by her farmer parents she decided to venture into agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She started her \u00a0agribusiness with basic knowledge and small capital, but her determination and perseverance\u00a0 yielded her success and massive achievements. She now owns a big farm where she grows corn, onions, sweet melon, watermelon, cabbage, pepper, tomatoes, capsicum and coriander to mention a few. She also runs a busy Stall in the biggest vegetable market in Garowe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her interview, Safiya highlighted the significance of\u00a0 agriculture, emphasizing its role in supporting livelihoods through food ,habitat, and jobs while providing raw materials for food and other products as well as building strong economies through trade. Her dedication and enthusiasm towards agriculture highlights her commitment to breaking gender barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safiya expressed her gratitude towards SEDO for the KAABE project that\u00a0 provided her with agricultural training and tips that elevated her quality as an agripreneur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
