Water remains the most fundamental source of livelihood sustenance in Somalia. Livestock keeping is the main economic activity for most households and as such water availability is directly linked to economic activities and the resultant effect in the economic advantages in the local market. Water is thus the main desirable commodity at HHs level and at the social empowerment level. For most Somali family’s, sources of water include shallow wells, berked, catchment dams, boreholes, and other domestic level water catchment and conservation mechanisms.
