  1. Institution Background

SEDO (Social and Environmental Development Organization) is a nonprofit, nonpolitical organization founded in 2010 by Somali intellectuals focused on social progress and environmental conservation. Based in Bossaso, Puntland, SEDO addresses piracy prevention, alternative livelihood creation, and environmental conservation. It aims to improve government service delivery and foster partnerships between government, the private sector, and civil society to promote peace, recovery, and development in Somalia. The organization also tackles challenges like environmental degradation and unsustainable fishing practices in Puntland. SEDO will implement project on Capacity strengthening of Local Farmers in Bari and Nugaal Region. Thus SEDO seeks qualified and experienced applicants for the following positions:

  1. Agronomist (Two Position)
  • Qualification: Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in agricultural project coordination or related tasks.
  • Duties: Implementation, coordination, reporting, supervision, and other tasks as assigned by the line Manager.
  • Skills: Expertise in agronomy, report writing, and computer applications.
  • Duty Station: Bossaso/Garowe, with the possibility to travel throughout Puntland.
  • Reporting to: Program Coordinator
  1. Field Officer (two Possition)
  • Qualification: Diploma/Degree for management/ Project Management/Agrinomy or related field.
  • Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience on supervision.
  • Duties: Supervision, coordination, reporting and other tasks assigned by the line Manager
  • Skills: Report writing skills and computer applications.
  • Duty Station: Bosaso/Garowe with to travel entire Puntland.
  • Reporting to: Line Manager
  • Gender Officer (One positions)
  • Qualification: Diploma/ Degree in Gender Studies, Social Science, Project Management, or a related field
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience on Gender.
  • Duties: Gender analysis, Support Services, coordination, and reporting.
  • Skills: Expertise in gender analysis, report writing, and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Duty Station: Garowe with possibility of Travel.

In response to community consultations and lessons learned from the Kobciye project 1, funded by WFP, SEDO is inviting qualified companies to construct gabion structures in Ceeldaahir. The goal is to protect farms from flooding and soil erosion during the rainy season, benefiting the local farmer cooperatives by preventing gully formation and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Project Overview: This project will pilot the construction of gabion structures in Ceeldaahir to control erosion, safeguard crops, and increase resilience to flooding. Additionally, local farmer cooperatives will receive hands-on training to construct and maintain these structures, enabling long-term sustainability.

Scope of Work:

  • Construction of gabion structures to prevent gully formation and reduce flooding on pilot farms in Ceeldaahir.
  • Training the local farmer cooperatives on gabion construction techniques and maintenance.
  • Ensuring compliance with technical standards for effective flood and erosion control.
