In response to the severe drought and growing food insecurity, SEDO Somalia, with support from the World Food Programme (WFP) and funding from UK Aid, implemented an unconditional emergency food assistance programme in Gumar under Badhan district.
The programme provided vulnerable households with US$238 in e-vouchers over two months, enabling families to purchase essential food items directly from local retailers according to their needs.
The assistance reached approximately 5,000 people, providing critical support to drought-affected and food-insecure families while also supporting local markets and retailers.
This intervention provided immediate relief to vulnerable communities, helping families meet their basic food needs with dignity during a critical period.
