Cirbiye, Laasqoray District: Farmers in the village of Cirbiye, located in Laasqoray district, Sanaag region, have today benefited from a training session organized by SEDO Somalia. The training, facilitated by experts from the organization, focused on modern farming techniques to increase productivity and protect crops from pests and diseases. Local farmers actively participated, showing great interest and commitment to improving their farms and making them more profitable.
The one-day training covered key topics including crop management, pest control, and future planning for sustainable production. SEDO Somalia’s experts explained in detail how farmers can apply good agricultural practices to boost yields and reduce losses caused by unpredictable weather patterns. Farmers also learned practical strategies to prevent pests and diseases from damaging their crops, with actionable advice they can immediately implement in their fields.
In addition to the training, SEDO Somalia rehabilitated several shallow wells that farmers previously used for irrigation. The wells, which had fallen into disrepair, are now functional again—providing farmers with reliable water during dry seasons. The organization also distributed farming tools to the community, including watering cans, hoes, wheelbarrows, sprayers, and irrigation pipes. These tools will help farmers manage their fields more efficiently and make the most of the rehabilitated wells. SEDO Somalia remains committed to supporting farmers and communities across Sanaag region, working to improve livelihoods and protect the environment.
