Organizational Background
SEDO (Social and Environmental Development Organization) is a non-profit, non-political organization established in 2010 by Somali intellectuals dedicated to promoting social development and environmental sustainability. Headquartered in Bosaso, Puntland, SEDO addresses critical challenges such as piracy prevention, environmental degradation, and the development of sustainable livelihoods.
The organization works to strengthen community resilience, improve public service delivery, and foster collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, and civil society. Through its programs, SEDO contributes to peacebuilding, recovery, and long-term development across Somalia.
SEDO is currently implementing a project focused on strengthening the capacity of local farmers in the Bari and Nugaal regions. To support this initiative, SEDO is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Agronomist.
Position Summary
The Agronomist will support the implementation and coordination of agricultural activities under the Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) project, ensuring effective delivery of technical interventions and sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and coordination of project activities
- Provide technical guidance on agronomic practices to farmers
- Supervise field activities and ensure quality standards are maintained
- Prepare timely and accurate progress reports
- Coordinate with stakeholders and project partners
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field
- Minimum of 2–5 years of relevant experience in agricultural project coordination or similar roles
Required Skills
- Strong technical expertise in agronomy
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office and related tools)
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
