Organizational Background
SEDO (Social and Environmental Development Organization) is a non-profit, non-political organization established in 2010 by Somali intellectuals dedicated to advancing social development and environmental sustainability. Headquartered in Bosaso, Puntland, SEDO addresses key challenges including piracy prevention, environmental conservation, and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods.
The organization works to strengthen community resilience, improve public service delivery, and foster collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, and civil society. Through its programs, SEDO contributes to peacebuilding, recovery, and sustainable development across Somalia.
SEDO is currently implementing a project focused on strengthening the capacity of local farmers in the Bari and Nugaal regions. To support this initiative, SEDO is seeking a qualified and experienced Gender Officer.
Position Summary
The Gender Officer will ensure the integration of gender equality and social inclusion across all project activities under the Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) project.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct gender analysis and assessments within project areas
- Promote gender mainstreaming across project interventions
- Provide support services to ensure inclusive participation
- Coordinate gender-related activities with stakeholders
- Prepare timely and high-quality reports
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience in gender programming
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in gender analysis and mainstreaming
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Proficiency in computer applications (MS Office and related tools)
