Asset Creation and Livelihoods Project

Implemented in the period between June and September 2021, the asset creation and livelihoods project targeted 600HHs in Sanaag District, the project delivered short term impact activities through provision of employment opportunities and food support while the project’s long term impact is improving livelihoods by increasing targeted community’s access to water availability in all seasons for domestic use, their livestock and environmental protection. The choice of intervention was to construct water catchments/reservoir, and develop the capacity of targeted communities to reduce negative impact of drought and thus enhance food security in a sustainable manner. It focused on achieving the following objectives:

Objective 1: Increased access to diverse and quality foods that meet the nutritional requirements of vulnerable households

Objective 2: Improved adaptive capacity of communities to disasters

Objective 3: To reduce economic risks and food insecurity associated with natural hazards such as droughts of the targeted communities living in the area, as expected outputs.
